Fatal errors during job interviews

Fatal errors during job interviews

All men make mistakes, but there are moments in life when we just can not afford to. There are classic and surprising, funny and outrageous interview mistakes that usually inexperienced and under-prepapred job seekers commit. The HR staff of course, meanwhile having fun, they collect them: scolding the former employer for minutes, arrives with mom or girlfriend, staying silent etc. We collected a few of these, so you can avoid these mistakes and be successful at one of the most important battles of your life.

Before they call you in

It makes sense, although many times it is still a mistake to use inappropriate email addresses for sending applications, or using it on CVs: for example cicuska@gmail.com, whiskys-rablo@freemail.hu tanga007@hotmail.com etc. Failure can happen even before reading our CVs caused by the funny, surprising and outrageous e-mail addresses. Let’s face it, it is understandable.

Do not be late…

It is not the best reference if you’re late for the first time at the agreed date. Go on time, but do not get there too soon. Arrive 5-10 minutes early, so the first test of accuracy and reliability can already be successfully completed.

Do not play zombies or hyperactive…

No matter how nervous you are, the interviewer does not want to see your anxiety and depression, but your interest. Of course, it is not good either if you move too much or ask more questions than the interviewer. Stay natural, answer in complete round sentences.

Do not arrive stinking of cigarette or alcohol…

The majority prefers to take non-smoking employees, but if you are open about it, at least do not arrive stinking of cigarettes. No matter how nervous you are, you should never drink alcohol before an interview, because your breath could bust you. Chewing gum is not a solution either, it just makes things worse.

Do not complain…

The role of the eternal malcontent is not exactly appealing. Do not complain bashing the former boss, your job, transportation, the government or the global crisis. Commonplace: but rather just be interested and positive.

Do not ask about your pay ahead of time…

Patience, patience. The key question is often thrown in at the end of the interview. If you get this far, the worst is over.

Do not start tapping your mobile…

It is best to turn it off before arrival, but at least mute the handset. If you forget to do so, do not answer it when rings. Believe me, there were some who did so…

We do not give chocolates…

Job-seekers are sometimes quite amazing as they try to impress. Surely we do not get to the finish line if we arrive with chocolates or drinks. Avoid gifts; they will appear as „cheap” tools.

Know what position you applied for…

Of course it is a fatal error if you do not properly review the company where you go to, and it is even a bigger mistake if you do not even know about the vacant position. If you applied for dozens of job advertisements, make sure to review the company and position you are going for.
